Our Purpose
Northwest Catholic is a Catholic elementary school whose purpose is to develop a firm scholastic and social foundation within a Christian atmosphere. We strive to develop a positive self-concept in each student. We prepare our students to meet standards of learning as set by national and state goals and school expectations. As a social being, each student is expected to act in a responsible manner and to contribute in a positive way to the class, the school, the family, and the community.
Academic Philosophy
Students are expected to master academic skills that are appropriate to their grade level, including phonics, grammar, reading comprehension, and math facts and operations.
Students are graded on classwork, homework, and tests, and receive a quarterly report card. Students in grades 1-8 take nationally-normed tests each year. Mandatory conferences are held twice a year and more often if the parent or teacher identifies a need.

Curriculum
Students receive daily instruction in reading, spelling, math, social students, science, and religion. Our K4 and K5 programs prepare youngsters for a strong academic program by developing school-ready behaviors.
Our school is a participant in the Milwaukee Parental School Choice Program. The program gives children from low-income families an opportunity to enroll in a Catholic school. If you are unsure of your financial eligibility, please call the school office, 414-352-6927.

Northwest Catholic School has a long legacy and rich tradition of Catholic education on the northwest side of Milwaukee. Nearly 150 years ago, the opportunity for a Catholic education became a reality when our sponsoring parish St. Catherine of Alexandria first began educating the children of Granville (as this area of Milwaukee was known then).
When St. Bernadette and Our Lady of Good Hope were built, they too embraced Catholic education. Together there is a vibrant, rich history of Catholic education and parish life. The history of "mission churches" and "circuit rider priests" is fascinating and these parishes have a legacy to be cherished.
In July of 2009, the parish schools of St. Bernadette, St. Catherine of Alexandria, and Our Lady of Good Hope joined together to create one school--Northwest Catholic School--that would provide an excellent, faith-based education to our neighborhood in the city of Milwaukee. The three parishes continue to support Northwest Catholic School and its students today.
As we began the 2016-2017 school year, we joined eight other Milwaukee are Catholic schools and became a part of the Seton Catholic Schools network. By bringing together educators, community leaders, and administrators, we are positively impacting the elementary education of our students to give them an education for life--both on earth and eternally.
Northwest Catholic School moved to one campus for the 2017-2018 school year, 7152 North 41st Street. This location allows for three wings of classrooms: primary, intermediate, and middle school. This set-up promotes grade-band teacher relationships to be more easily nurtured toward mutual support and detailed, shared academic planning.
