St. Bernadette School Advisory Committee

Introduction
The School Advisory Committee (SAC) was established in August, 2002. The SAC was formed to assist in guiding the Day School program as an educated resource to the community served by St. Bernadette Parish. The SAC is an advisory resource in the areas of planning, policy and program development, evaluation, finance, and communications. The SAC is structured in accord with developed by-laws and is comprised of nine regular members who represent broad, diverse, and professional areas of the Parish and School community. Terms vary from 2-3 years with the term of four members expiring each year.

Please feel free to bring any issues, concerns, or ideas relating to the above areas to these members. Contact them directly or send a note to the school office. They represent your interests and views, so let them know what you want to see in your education environment. Other committee members include parishioner, professional, and teacher representatives. There is a current vacancy for a Finance Professional on the committee.

A Look Back This past year focused on implementing a positive school advertising and marketing campaign, and enrollment increased. Efforts were made to increase collaboration with the Tri-Parish schools. School budgets were reviewed and sources sought for increased revenues. An Alumni Annual Fund Drive was started and was successful. In addition, planning, assessment, and evaluation of other programs continued.

Goals & Objectives The committee's main goals and objectives for this year include:
  • Continued review of alternate revenues with a focus on grants
  • Evaluate school programs needs and solutions
  • Monitor and evaluate quantifiable goals and outcomes
  • Develop positive communication tools for families
  • Assist in school accreditation process in 2004-2005
  • Develop and implement Tri-Parish collaborative efforts
Future parish models and structure will also impact school programs. Collaborative sharing of resources will sustain and promote effective programs to meet the educational needs of the parish and the local community.
