GENERAL UNIFORMS Shoes: Clogs, high heels, and flip-flops are not allowed for health and safety reasons. Students must wear tennis shoes for physical education classes. Tennis shoes are to be white-soled. All students are required to wear boots during snowy weather. These are not allowed to be worn inside the building or classrooms, however, because of the danger of wet corridors, and the odor of drying leather. If a student wears indoor/outdoor shoes, an extra pair must be provided for changing. Sandals are not encouraged, but are allowed in very warm weather provided they are worn with socks and have a heel strap. Makeup: Makeup may not be worn. Only clear nail polish will be allowed to be worn at school. White-out will not be allowed to be worn. Sweatshirts: The uniform sweatshirt in navy blue (or red for Grs. 6 - 8) with the St. Bernadette logo is the only sweatshirt allowed as part of the uniform and must be of appropriate size and worn right-side out. Girls' Socks: Solid colored navy, white (or red for Grs. 6 - 8) anklets, knee socks, or tights without decorations or trim are required. SPIRIT DAY The first school Friday of each month shall be designated as Spirit Day. Students may wear any clothing (except hats) imprinted with a logo representing a St. Bernadette activity. This includes sport uniform jerseys, souvenir play shirts, prizes from fundraisers, et cetera. If students do not wear spirit wear, they are to be in uniform on those days. Students may wear non-uniform slacks on Spirit Day with their spirit tops. Slacks are to be neutral in tone and color and not advertising another activity such as Bucks or Brewers. Jeans will be allowed on these days provided that they are in good condition and clean. If shorts are worn, they are to be uniform shorts. Baggy, low-slung pants, frayed hems, and cuffs that touch the floor are not allowed. DRESS DIFFERENT DAYS On the average of once a month we have "Dress Different Day." Although these can be fun days, parents are asked to be sure students are dressed in good taste. Jeans will be allowed on these days provided that they are in good condition and clean. Halter tops, immodestly short or tight skirts, and bare midriffs or shoulders are not allowed. If shorts are worn, they are to be uniform shorts.
