In December 2006, the Second Graders participated in a Nativity Pageant. The Second Graders get the honor of planning and participating in the May Crowning of Mary. Each year the Second Grade holds a Teddy Bear drive. New teddy bears and stuffed animals are collected for the Police and Fire Departments. In 2006, they collected 184 stuffed animals! Way to go Second Graders! During the 2007-2008 school year brought something new and EGG-citing in the Second Grade. They hatched chicks as part of their Life Cycles unit. A parishioner and her daughter shared an incubator with the class and put them in contact with an egg supplier. Five adorable chicks were hatched, and quickly became the stars of the classroom. Click here to visit the official Flat Stanley Project website and learn all about it. Our Stanley took several trips. He rode through several Midwestern states in a semi truck for a week; attended the wedding of Principal Lorusso's daughter in St. Louis, complete with his very own tux; visited one of our parishioners who showed him a really fun and educational time in California; and then he flew in an Air Force jet to Texas. He returned to St. B via the U.S. Mail just in time to see the school play, The Sound of Music, that one of his Second Grade classmates was in. He also visited Disney World and New York City. The next time you visit the school, ask Mrs. Keller to show you his journal! | ||||
